Meet Johnathan: A bubbly boy exploring the world

"Right now, he is just a sponge, absorbing everything."

All the world is still a wonder for 3-year-old Johnathan.

The bubbly boy is all smiles after pulling himself to his feet and cruising around the room while holding on to furniture for support.

“He is happy all the time,” said Crysta Hernandez, a youth advocate with Christian Family Care.

His spirit to battle through an array of medical challenges spurs developmental progress that exceeds expectations. Johnathan also benefits from the good work of occupational therapists, speech therapists and other professionals.

“Right now, he is just a sponge, absorbing everything,” said Hernandez.

Like many toddlers, Johnathan loves story time and bath time. He is fascinated watching programs on Nick Jr. and Disney Jr.

Hernandez says Johnathan would best thrive in a two-parent home where he would be an only child or the youngest child. Having a stay-at-home parent who can provide one-on-one attention and teaching would also be a benefit. A stay-at-home parent would also be able to manage the medical and therapy appointments that will continue to be part of Johanthan’s routine.
