Gilbert police: 67-year-old pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle

GILBERT, Ariz. — Gilbert police say a man has died after he was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing the street Sunday morning.

According to the Gilbert Police Department, the 67-year-old man was walking across Williams Field Road near Granite Drive when was struck by a westbound vehicle. 

The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m., police said.

The pedestrian died at the scene and the driver stopped. 

Williams Field Road will be closed from Val Vista to Palomino Creek drives for at least the next four hours as police investigate the crash. 

Earlier Sunday morning, another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and died in Phoenix.
