A man's remains were found after he fell into a sinkhole in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico last Monday.
Phoenix fire crews had been deployed to Mexico for the search operation. Hermosillo is a sister city of Phoenix.
The man was washed down a storm drain in the sinkhole, according to Phoenix fire officials.
Phoenix Councilman Michael Nowakowski released a statement after the man's remains were located.
"Over the weekend, I received an update from our Sister City, Hermosillo, that the remains of the missing man had been located. While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, I am grateful that we now have closure for family and friends."
