Glendale Police arrest driver in fatal crash

The suspect reportedly told investigators she and her passenger were arguing when the crash happened at 51st and Onyx avenues.

GLENDALE, Ariz. —

A Phoenix woman has been arrested for allegedly causing a car crash that killed her passenger, Sunday night.  

According to Glendale police, around 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash at 51st and Onyx avenues. Officers on scene found a man dead, who was later identified as 25-year-old Cristian Ramos of Phoenix, police said.  

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Evangelina Elizabeth Lara of Phoenix, was arrested after getting medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, investigators say.     

Police say they responded to reports of a driver speeding southbound on North 51st Avenue. The driver was reportedly passing other vehicles and losing control. The driver hit a residential block wall near Onyx Avenue.  

Investigators found speed and impairment were factors in the crash. Lara allegedly indicted to police her and Ramos were arguing when the crash happened.  

Lara could face a felony reckless manslaughter charge.
