MESA, Ariz. — A person is accused of driving drunk, crashing into a Burger King in Mesa and seriously injuring a person inside.
The Mesa Police Department said the driver, who was not immediately identified, pulled up to the drive through at the Burger King near University Drive and Lindsey Road early Saturday.
Employees suspected the driver was impaired, so they told the driver to pull around and park and wait for the order so they could call police.
The driver pulled into the parking spot and struck the building wall, police said.
A patron inside the Burger King was injured during the crash. They have been transported to the hospital with a serious leg injury.
The suspect has been detained. The investigation is ongoing.
