Police identify 4-year-old girl found dead in Phoenix apartment fire

Police on Tuesday identified the 4-year-old girl found dead in an apartment fire in Phoenix on Sunday as Jordan Halfacre.

PHOENIX — Police on Tuesday identified the 4-year-old girl found dead in an apartment fire in Phoenix on Sunday as Jordan Halfacre. 

A 27-year-old woman, 47-year-old man and 10-year-old girl all have serious injuries and remain hospitalized. 

The 27-year-old woman is the mother of the 4-year-old and 10-year-old. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters found a 4-year-old girl dead after a fire broke out at an apartment in Phoenix Sunday morning. 

Three other people, a woman, a man and a 10-year-old girl, were rescued from the fire and taken to a local hospital. 

The woman is in critical condition, while the man and the girl are both in serious but stable condition, the Phoenix Fire Department said Sunday afternoon.  

The Phoenix Fire Department said crews arrived on scene at 23rd and Dunlap avenues to reports of people trapped on the second floor of the building. 

Firefighters got to the second floor and were able to rescue the man, woman and 10-year-old child out through a bedroom window. 

Also in that apartment, firefighters found the 4-year-old dead, who was unable to be resuscitated.

Phoenix Fire says two families will be displaced for an unknown amount of time and crisis response teams are on scene to assist with those families. 

Red Cross volunteers are also assisting the families. 

No firefighters were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation and it's too early to tell what caused the fire, according to firefighters. 

The Phoenix Police Department is handling the death investigation and said Sunday there is no indication that foul play was involved at this point.
