GRAND CANYON WEST, Ariz. — The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is closed due to an ongoing wildfire that has burned 71,450 acres as of Sunday morning, the Grand Canyon National Park said.
The fire, which has been named the Mangum Fire, has closed a portion of Highway 89A, between Bitter Springs and Fredonia, firefighters said.
Highway 67 from Jacob Lake to the Grand Canyon National Park is also closed.
The fire currently sits at 78% containment.
Around 230 residents in Jacob Lake and another 50 visitors were evacuated due to the fire, authorities said.
Residents in White Sage and Lonesome have been advised to prepare to evacuate.
