Pima County deputies arrest two suspects who allegedly robbed two banks

Two suspects were arrested in connection with two bank robberies on Saturday afternoon, deputies said.

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — Pima County Sheriff's deputies arrested two suspects in connection with two bank robberies on Saturday afternoon. 

The first robbery took place at a Chase Bank on 2920 West Valencia Road at around 1 p.m. and the second was at a US Bank on 7110 North Oracle Road around 2 p.m., deputies said. 

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene of a traffic stop that led to the arrest of both Deangelo Dawson, 44, and Handy Velarde, 31. 

Both suspects were charged with two counts of armed robbery. The Pima County Sheriff's Office is working with the Sahuarita Police Department because the suspects may be connected with robberies there as well. 

An investigation is ongoing.
