Pedestrian hit and killed in west Phoenix crash

The crash happened near 35th Avenue and Osborn Road, Phoenix police said.

PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead after they were struck and killed by a vehicle in west Phoenix Tuesday morning, according to reports from city police.

The crash happened just before 5:15 a.m. in a neighborhood near 35th Avenue and Osborn Road.

The person who was struck, who police only identified as an adult, died at the scene of the crash, police said. The driver stayed on scene.

The pedestrian was hit while he was pushing a shopping cart across the road.

Police said speeding is believed to be a factor that caused the collision.

A charging decision will not be made until after the accident reconstruction process is complete.
