An Arizona man was stabbed to death while walking to his apartment. His family and police are still searching for answers.

Carlos Chavez walked to his apartment near Camelback Road and 58th Avenue when an unknown suspect got out of a car and stabbed the 36-year-old to death.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A man was walking to his apartment in Glendale when he was stabbed to death in 2019. His family and police are still searching for answers. 

Silent Witness and the Glendale Police Department are seeking the community's help in identifying the suspect or suspects involved in the death of 36-year-old Carlos Chavez. 

Family said Chavez had and big heart and loved his family.

“They don’t know what they took from us," Eric Cruz, Chavez's cousin, said. “He was just those one-of-a-kind people that come into your life and that you can never replace.”

While walking to his apartment near Camelback Road and 58th Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, an unknown suspect got out of the passenger side of a white four-door older model Toyota Corolla and stabbed Chavez to death.

The night of the attack still weighs heavy on Chavez's family.

"It really devastated me and still haunts me to this day," Cruz said.

They're pleading for answers and asking anyone who knows anything to come forward.

“It’s not going to bring him back but it would give us some kind of closure," Cruz said.

Anyone who may have information on the crime is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-948-6377. Tips can also be received on the program's website online

Silent Witness: 

Arizona's Silent Witness program allows people to send in tips and share information about crimes happening within their local communities. 

The program shares unsolved felony case information in multiple ways, including TV, radio and social media. 

Anyone who has information on a crime or recognizes a suspect described by the program is asked to call 480-948-6377, go to the program's website online or download the Silent Witness app to provide a tip. The identity of anyone who submits a tip is kept anonymous. 

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
