East Valley man arrested for allegedly filming coworkers in bathroom for over a year

The suspect is accused of hiding his phone in the bathroom and recording videos.

TEMPE, Ariz. — A 22-year-old man was arrested on May 4 on suspicious of surreptitiously recording videos of his coworkers in the bathroom. 

Jason Romo was taken into custody in the East Valley after he allegedly admitted to hiding his phone in the bathroom and recording videos of female coworkers without their knowledge or consent, court records show.

A witness discovered the phone and reported it to police.

Investigators reported finding surreptitious videos on the suspect's phone and some had timestamps dating back to March 2023. Romo is suspect of committing the offense "10-20 times without being caught," records show.

He is facing charges of unlawful surreptitious recording.

The county was named after the Maricopa, or Piipaash, Native American Tribe.
